Thank you 2024 Campers!
Please remember Saint Peter’s Monastery in your prayers.
Pray
St. Peter’s Monastery Youth Camp is scheduled annually during the Fast of Sts. Peter and Paul. Services are led by Hieromonk Innocent (St. John Monastery) who is assisted by other monastics and local clergy. Camp days begin at 7AM with an Akathist (a prayer service celebrating the lives and work of Sts. Peter and Paul), and they end each day with Vespers, often at the cross overlooking beautiful Madison Valley. On the feast day, whenever possible, local clergy celebrate Divine Liturgy with us. Parents and the faithful throughout Montana are invited to join.
Work
Campers form construction teams and work daily from 9:00 until 1:00. Professionals are on hand to instruct and assist in gathering stones, mixing and pouring concrete, installing slip forms, and laying the stones and concrete into the forms. Campers also help with pruning trees, mending fences, and doing other ranch work.
Learn
One of the goals of the camp is to give young people the tools to become more supportive and engaged in the work of their parishes. To this end, each day there is time set aside for classes in iconography, candle-making, hymnography, and liturgics. Each day there are also Father Innocent’s and Mother Melania’s talks and opportunities for sharing our spiritual journeys with one another.
Play
St. Peter’s Monastery borders a mountain stream-fed lake where campers can swim, fish, and boat. (Canoes and kayaks are available.) There’s also a Montana-style softball field where campers enjoy staging their end-of-day contests before Vespers at the Cross at the top of the property.
